He was the darling of everyone as a child artiste. He could pour emotions on dialogues that stretched longer than the LOC, while kids of his age were struggling with Jack and Jill. Chimbu as he was fondly called was the Little Superstar of yesteryears and a promising star for today. He has nevertheless kept up the promise today to become a star, but also has stretched beyond the annals of acting to become an effective visualizer, a good writer, promising singer and lyricist.
"Manmadhan" Silambarasans creation has reaped success both critically and box office wise. His earlier success films "Dum" and "Kuthu" being mass subjects; when he pursued to conceptualize a story, he never ventured to something that will have an appeal only to the frontbenchers. But he formed a story that has substance and a narration that has depth to capture audiences from all classes. Having been around the tutelage of his fathers production house, he had imbibed the nuances and techniques of good storytelling. The story though having shades of "Sigappu Rojakkal" has been presented in a refreshing manner, fully comprehending the pulse of the audience. Thus he was able to give a much-needed thriller to the Tamil audience with an astounding soundtrack and excellent technical inputs.
He has been criticized for acting in action subjects that is not completely true. Maybe he does not pursue films beyond the parameters of commercial cinema, nevertheless he has tried other themed subjects, and unfortunately there have not been many takers. He is keen to do interesting storyline not necessarily action. With the acceptance of "Manmadhan," he is planning to do lot more movies where his concentration will not be constrained only before the camera, but in story, screenplay and narration as well. With his eyes set on the chair earmarked "DIRECTOR," it will not be long when we see him in his fathers shoes. But hopefully let the output be more than his fathers was.
